2020 Design Day Cancelled
Due to continued uncertainty, the 2020 Design Day scheduled for October 17th is cancelled. Hopefully we can have one in 2021.
Stay safe everyone.
The Board Game Workshop Design Day is a chance for designers and play testers to come together to help improve developing game designs and grow the New England game design community.
The second annual design day will take place on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at the VFW Post in Franklin, MA.
Attendance is free to all. Designers and play testers should sign up for a free attendee badge so we can anticipate attendance. If you want to play test your game, you must purchase a Designer Table Block. There is no free play area.
This event would not be possible without play testers volunteering their time. If you have a designer table, it is very much appreciated if you attend the other block as a play tester to help others improve their games.
Designer Table Blocks
Designer table purchases are temporarily suspended. Sign up for an attendee badge in the meantime.
You need to purchase a designer table block if you would like to play test your game design. You only need to purchase one designer table block regardless of how many designers or helpers you have. All attendees will also need a free attendee badge.
Designer table blocks will cost $25 if purchased before August 1, 2020, and $30 from August 1, 2020 until the event on October 17, 2020.
Designers get a table and chairs for 5 hours.
There will be two blocks of time for designer tables. Each block will have 9 tables available.
- Block 1 (10:00am-3:00pm)
- Block 2 (3:00pm-8:00pm)
During your 5 hour block you can test any game designs you want as long as they meet our community standards. You may purchase a table in block 1 and block 2 if you want. Your 5 hours includes any setup or cleanup.
If you would like to help with the event, we can use help with setup and cleanup as well as helping attendees during the event with registration, table assignments, and anything else that comes up. If you sign up as a volunteer you do not need to help for the entire event. Every volunteered hour is helpful.
If you would like to be a sponsor, you can see all of the info on the sponsorship page.
Donated giveaway items
We will have random drawings throughout the event to give away games and prototyping materials donated by our sponsors. All attendees are entered into the drawings. You must be present to win a random drawing.
The Board Game Workshop Design Contest Finalists
The 5 finalist games for the 2020 design contest will be available to play at the design day. Anyone who plays any of the finalist games can fill out an online judge form and help determine the contest winner.
